Congratulations for your decision to pick up martial arts! As we all know, it takes discipline and determination to walk the path of the warrior. Accepting the challenge of martial arts on all levels is the best way for us to grow and get the most out of it: The spiritual and emotional as well as the mental and physical level.

Practicing martial arts myself I can relate to your decision to the impact it will have on your like. It gave me more energy but also discipline and calmness. I’m absolutely positive that you will feel more energy in your life than ever before if you follow this path.

As you probably know, most Japanese martial arts do not require any martial arts footwear. It’s quite the opposite: most martial arts require you to take of your shoes before you start the training.

Of course there are martial arts that require the participants to wear martial arts footwear as well. You will find yourself unable to get your stance right and follow the training without a strong and durable pair of shoes. Shoes of low quality even bear the risk of accidents and injuries.

Don’t make the mistake of saving a few bucks on your martial arts footwear and end up hurting yourself in the training. If you can’t participate for a few weeks, it will hurt your endurance, too. You will have a hard time to once again start the training.

And if the martial arts requires you to wear shoes, it’s not very clever to practice without footwear out of stubbornness. Of course, we all know those guys who proclaim that shoes would somehow make the training less effective, but here’s one question for you: Can you imagine many situations when you are on your bare feet and have to defend yourself? How often will this happen? On the beach perhaps, but that’s all.
